What is Exilis?
Exilis is an FDA approved Computer Controlled Radio-Frequency instrument that applies energy for non-invasive, non-surgical, comfortable, skin tightening and fat shrinking.
Most men who consider Exilis treatment do so for 3 main areas: tighten their necks, tighten the skin around their eyes, and to shrink belly and love handle fat.
The benefit of Exilis is that we can selectively target different regions at different depths, to create a result a man desires. Men want to avoid invasive surgery if possible and minimize their recovery. Exilis allows us to create changes with no tell tale sign of surgery and with a perfectly natural result.
The treatment does not require any anesthesia and in fact, most of our patients say that it feels like a hot-rocks massage and is very comfortable. The treatment sessions last about 20-30 minutes and patients are immediately able to return to their normal activities.
For the treatment, a small grounding pad is placed on the arm or leg. Our nurse who performs the procedure then applies a small amount of lubricant to the skin in the area to be treated. The Exilis probe is then rubbed back and forth on the skin for treatment times that vary from 5-10 minutes depending upon the size of the area.
It is a comfortable procedure and in fact many patients may fall asleep during it. At the conclusion of the procedure their is some mild redness that disappears within 10-20 minutes.
The energy from the Exilis machine works in two different ways. In the skin and underlying thin muscle, like that seen in the eyes and neck, it shrinks and tightens the tissues. In the fat, it causes the fat cells to open and release some of their fatty deposits. This is then cleared by the circulation.
Exilis works well for tightening the skin of the eyes and neck. In our experience, the more elasticity the natural tissues have, the greater the result. As such, patients in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s do best. Exilis will not produce the same results of surgery or laser resurfacing. However, it is a non-surgical option that can produce very gratifying results.
Facial treatments usually take 3 treatment sessions separated by a week apart.
In the abdomen and love handles, Exilis treatments take a little bit longer. Most session will last 30-45 minutes. Most patients can expect about an inch reduction in circumference from the treatments. For the abdomen, most patients are best served with 6 separate treatments spaced a week a part.
