The Breast Lift (Mastopexy) | Performed With or Without Implants

Breast Lift

The Procedure

The breast lift procedure is performed in our AAAHC office surgery center and takes about 2 hours to perform. The operation is performed with the patient asleep. Once incisions are created, the breast tissue below the fold is reshaped into an internal brassiere. If the patient wants more fullness in the top of the breast, (a rounder shape), then an implant is placed at the same time, through the same incisions, under the muscle.

Based on the patient’s choice, either a saline, silicone, or gummy bear implant can be utilized. Patients may choose their breast size to be either smaller, the same size, or larger.

Breast Lift Incisions

The Lollipop Incision Minimizes Scarring

breast lift incision types

One of three different incisions are typically used for the mastopexy: the periareolar (around the areola), the lollipop incision, and the anchor incision. Dr. Schneider uses a breast lift technique he developed that minimizes scarring and produces a full rounder breast with the lollipop incision.

Breast Lift & Ptosis | to sag

Derived from Greek Meaning to Fall

Ptosis of the breast means that nipple and breast tissue sit below the fold under the breast. Ptosis may be the result of how the breast naturally developed, or, it may result due to changes that occurred in the breast due to pregnancy, weight gain & loss, or aging. Regardless of the cause, breast sagging can be addressed with the breast lift procedure.

The goal of the mastopexy is to elevate and reshape the breast the tissue so that it stays above the inframammary fold. Dr. Schneider has developed a technique that is a modification of the vertical mastopexy and creates a breast that is higher, fuller, more shapely and stands the test of time. The technique can be performed either with or without an implant.

Breast Lift Recovery

Most Patients are Back to Work in 7 Days.

The procedure takes about two hours to perform and patients are able to go home the same day. Following your procedure we will place a surgical bra and some dressings on you. We will see you back in the office 1-2 days following surgery. Your dressings will be removed and you will then be able to shower. We like patients to wear a supportive bra for 6 weeks following surgery. We will instruct you on when and how to massage or not massage your breasts. Scar creams or ointments are not necessary to use or purchase. Most patients are able to return to work in a few days to a week following the operation. After six weeks, you may resume all normal activities and bra choices.
